Four people were injured in a drive-by shooting outside a venue hosting a boxing event south of Brisbane, prompting a major police investigation and a search for at least three suspected offenders.
The shooting occurred shortly after 8 p.m. on Saturday, October 24, outside Fitzy’s Hotel on Bryants Road in Loganholme. The venue was hosting the Logan City Titles boxing event when gunfire erupted from a vehicle outside, according to police.
A 19-year-old woman was critically injured, while three men, aged 27, 37 and 38, were taken to hospital with serious injuries. Authorities said the woman remained in a critical condition, while the men were reported to be in serious but stable conditions.
Witnesses describe scenes of panic
The shooting triggered panic among people attending the event, with reports that spectators and staff took cover as shots were fired. Emergency services and police rushed to the venue, where officers established a cordon and began examining the scene.
Investigators said the suspected vehicle was seen leaving the area after the shooting. Reports also indicated that a vehicle believed to be connected to the incident was later found burning in Waterford West.
Police are investigating whether the attack was planned and what may have motivated it. Authorities have not publicly confirmed a motive, and no arrests had been announced in the latest reports.
Police search for suspects
Queensland police are seeking information that could help identify those responsible. Investigators are examining evidence from the scene and following leads concerning the vehicle and the people believed to have been involved.
Authorities have stressed that there is no indication the injured people or the boxing community were involved in any wrongdoing. The investigation is continuing, and police have urged anyone with relevant information or footage to come forward.
Community shaken by violence
The shooting has caused concern among residents and members of the local sporting community, particularly because the incident occurred at an event attended by spectators and families.
Organisers of the Logan City Titles expressed sadness over the injuries and said their thoughts were with the victims and everyone affected. Local leaders also condemned the violence and urged community members to support those who witnessed the incident.
The four injured people remain at the centre of the community’s concern as investigators continue their work.
Police are asking anyone who witnessed the shooting or has information about the suspects or vehicle involved to contact Queensland Police. Further updates are expected as the investigation progresses.
